  • Research Trinidad and Tobago – what is the terrain like? What animals live there? What is the food like?
  • Are there any famous people from the Caribbean / Trinidad and Tobago? Why are they famous?
  • Find out the history of Trinidad and Tobago.
  •

Use the information that you have researched to create an information leaflet.

The Caribbean is home to some amazing animals.

Task: Research the animals that live on the different islands of the Caribbean and create a collage depicting the animal and its habitat.

You can sketch, paint, use recycled materials, printed pictures – it is up to you how you create your collage.

The first week back, we are going to be focusing on local history. We are going to be learning about the Becontree Estate as it turns 100 years this year. We will also be going on a trip to Valance House in the first week to learn more about the area and our school.

Task: Research any information you can find about our school and the Becontree Estate and create an informative poster.

Research:

  • When was Henry Green Primary School built?
  • Why was it built?
  • Has it always been called Henry Green Primary School?
  • Why was the Becontree estate built?
  • How many people lived there? How many people live on the estate now?
  • What industries were part of the estate?

There are many famous singers that were born in the Caribbean – Billy Ocean, Rihanna, Bob Marley, Nicki Minaj to name just a few.

Task: Research more singers / groups from the Caribbean. Listen to examples of their music. What do you like about it? What don’t you like about it?

Choose one famous singer from the Caribbean and write a biography about that artist.

Remember to include:

  • Rhetorical questions
  • Chronological order
  • Important information
  • Interesting facts
  • Pictures.

In Science you will be learning about Sound.

Task: Research what sound is and how it is made.

Research the instruments that are played in the Caribbean.

Create your own musical instrument. Write a set of instructions to explain how to use the musical instrument.

Then create a poster which explains how sound is made from the instrument and how this sound travels to our ears.

Reading is fun! Try to read at least 4 books over the summer holidays.

Tasks: Choose one of the books and write a book review to explain what the story was about and what you liked and disliked.

Choose one of the books and create an advert in order to persuade other children to read it.

You may find you work in our book corner to share with others in the class!
