Vision Statement

Our vision for Early Years is to create an inclusive environment that sets the foundations of all learning through play and high quality opportunities, whilst respecting children’s cultures and celebrating diversity.

Curriculum

In EYFS, we teach through a combination of play, child led and adult lead learning following the new Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (2021) and accompanying guidance document "Development Matters". The 7 areas of development are:

  • Communication and Language (Speaking, Listening and Understanding)
  • Physical (Self care and Movement)
  • Personal, Social and Emotional (Behaviour and Making relationships)
  • Literacy (Reading, Phonics, Writing)
  • Mathematics (Shape, Pattern, Number)
  • Understanding the World (Science, Technology, Religion, History and Geography)
  • Expressive Arts and Design (Art, Music, Performing and Dance)

At Henry Green, we have a different focus topic each half term to inspire, intrigue and excite our children, while giving them the opportunities they need to develop and learn. Have a look at our topics below!

Working with parents

At Henry Green, we feel that it is important to build good relationships with our parents and work together to shape your child's learning and development.

Throughout the year, parents are invited to take part in virtual parent workshops led by our EYFS Phase Leader, to support parents understanding of the learning taking place in school and how they can continue this learning at home. The workshops can be found below!

We are continuing to use our successful communication app 'Evidence me' this year, which allows us to share photographs and observations of your child in school. Parents are able to share home learning with us as well! Download the 'Evidence me' app directly to your phone or tablet, and you can share photographs, videos and comments with the school securely. When home observations are shared, teachers can add their own comments and feedback for parents to read. We hope you enjoy 'Evidence me' as much as we do!
