Governor Information

Full governing body of Henry Green Primary School

Purpose:

Our board has 3 strategic core functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders/headteacher to account for the educational performance of the organisation/school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation/school and making sure its money is well spent

The main responsibilities to be managed by the board are outlined below.

Membership: 14 governors. A chair and vice-chair will be elected and a clerk will be appointed.

9 Co-opted Governors  (appointed by the Governing Body)

1 LA Governor (nominated by the local authority, appointed by the governing body)

3 Parent Governors (elected by parents)

1 Headteacher Governor (automatic member)

1 Staff Governor (elected by staff)

Quorum: One half of the membership of the governing board.

Meetings: The board will meet at least five times a year. Minutes of the meetings will be shared with the board and made available to the public.

Policies and compliance: The board will ratify all policies.

Monitoring: The board will be responsible for:

Set out your board’s responsibilities in terms of monitoring, in a bullet point list.

This could include:

  • Monitoring pupil premium spending
  • Ensuring that the National Curriculum is taught to all pupils
  • Checking that the statutory required information is published on the school’s website

Ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed

Portfolio – Cultural Education

I am the  current Chair of the Governing Board, having been with Henry Green Primary Governors for nearly five years. I come from a teaching/ Headteacher background. I spent all my career in Newham but trained in Barking and Dagenham schools, so am delighted to be back. My educational interests include Creative Arts, Inclusion and working with all sectors of the school community.

 

 

Ms C Lewis (Co-Chair) – Co-opted Governor

Term of Office 31.12.22

Member of Appraisal and Pay committee.

Portfolio – Child Protection, Looked After Children.

 

I have been a member of the Governing body at Henry Green since 2014 and I currently hold the position of Vice Chair. I have worked in a primary school in Newham since 1988. My particular interests within education are centred around fostering positive behaviours within school and Safeguarding.

Ms V York – Co-opted Governor

I began working with the school back in 2015, supporting teachers with planning and feedback. From here I have continued working with the school as a governor. I'm currently working in Newham as an Assistant Head Teacher and have particular interests in the development of trainee & newly qualified teachers and Teaching & Learning.

My name is Sakinah Rumjaun I come from a nursing background caring for adults and children, I have a special interest in SENCO, maths, English and art but take a interest in all aspects of learning across the curriculum. My son is currently in year 3 at Henry Green Primary.

 

 

 

 

Mr G Roberts - Co-opted Governor

I am a Year 4 Class Teacher, Phase Leader and Curriculum Lead at Henry Green Primary School. I joined the school in 2013 and have seen the school develop to become the good school it is today. I am very proud of working at Henry Green and believe we are a school made up of fantastic children and staff.

I have been with Henry Green Primary for almost a year and a half as a Parent Governor. My experience includes senior executive roles in facilities management, security

and customer service.  Since 2008, I have been involved in establishing and running a Security Services Company as Managing Director  In addition to my focus on
security, I have been commercially active in a number of other investment areas. I have a first class Master’s degree in Biological Sciences.
